Supported Decision-Making (SDM)
A lecture introducing the supported decision-making model that offers an alternative to guardianship, enabling people with disabilities and senior citizens incapable of managing independently to continue an autonomous life in the community and make their own decisions. They are helped by a “decision supporter” to assist them in making and implementing decisions. The lecture includes an explanation of the process, how it is conducted, and specifically the challenges and advantages when compared to alternatives.
